An update from Mr. Harper, Superintendent: Early this morning, at approximately 1:30 a.m. authorities were notified that Palmyra High School was on fire. The wind had blown an HVAC unit over on the northwest corner of the building and that caused a gas line to break. Eventually the unit caught on fire and the Palmyra Fire Department and Police Department were called to the scene. The fire department quickly put the fire out, and prevented any further damage to the building. The school district was very fortunate that there was not more damage on an extremely windy night, and that was primarily due to the great work of the Palmyra Fire and Palmyra Police department! Thank you for your unselfish service to this community and our school district. The fire stayed primarily above the rooftop causing damage to the unit that burned, some ductwork leading from the unit, and the rubberized membrane that seals the roof in that area. There was no fire damage to the classrooms themselves, but a small number of classrooms received minor water and smoke damage from extinguishing the fire. Servpro will be at the school today cleaning the rooms affected and preparing the school for the students to return on Tuesday. We appreciate everyone who stepped up and assisted early this morning and today. This is just another example of how special the Palmyra community is. Thank you, Jason Harper

Ms. Reeder and her 6th grade students recently enjoyed some fresh air, sunshine and STEM! The Panthers were provided popsicle sticks, bottle caps and rubber bands to build catapults. They used a tiny eraser to test out their catapults and recorded the distance on a data sheet.
