Last week, our PES fourth graders celebrated National 4th Graders’ Day — ALL WEEK long! 🎉

Students enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities throughout the week. Highlights included science labs testing thermal conductors and insulators, creating series and parallel circuits, exploring how sound waves travel by making cup phones, and investigating how static electricity can cause objects to repel, attract, and even bend water! ⚡🔬

We wrapped up the week by identifying chemical and physical changes during a hot cake chemistry lab — complete with some very fancy (and delicious) pancakes. 🥞✨

It was a fantastic week of learning and fun!

We are proud to announce that junior, Tess Lehman, will compete in the State Finals of The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program on March 1st! ✨🎤

Tess began her journey in November by winning the high school contest and has since competed and won the county, district and zone contests to advance to the state finals for the second year in a row! 🏆 🏆

Her memorized speech on the Power of Speech in a Democracy, was 5-6 minutes and will be expanded to 8-10 for the state competition. In addition, she will give a 3-5 minute impromptu speech on one of four randomly selected constitutional amendments. At the state finals there will be four contestants, one from each Missouri zone. ⭐🇺🇸

Tess is pictured (2nd from left) after winning the Zone 1 competition held at the Hannibal American Legion Post with American Legion Zone 1 representatives Christine Sapp and Larry DuFour. Also pictured are the 2nd and 3rd place contestants from Zone 1. ❤️🤍💙

We are proud of Tess and wish her the best of luck as she prepares for the next step in her journey! 👏🇺🇸

🧥❄️ Pre-K Panthers are getting ready for colder weather! 🐾

Our Pre-K Panthers in Ms. Trina and Ms. Michelle's class are practicing independence by learning how to put on their coats and zip them up all by themselves. When they master this skill, they officially become members of the Zipper Club and earn a Paw Charm! ⭐️🐾

Way to go, little Panthers—we are so proud of you! 🧡🖤 (We may need your help convincing the Middle and High School Panthers that coats are cool! IYKYK 😂🥶)
