Heidi recently earned 1st Place in the annual statewide essay contest sponsored by the Missouri Peace Officers Foundation.
This year’s essay prompt asked students: “Will AI Be a Threat or Opportunity for My Generation?” Heidi’s outstanding essay was selected as the top entry in the eastern side of Missouri!
As the first-place winner, Heidi received a $300 award, Mrs. Kizer's classroom earned $100, and the school also received $100 in recognition of her achievement. Even more exciting, her essay will be published in an upcoming issue of the organization’s magazine!
Heidi was honored at an assembly and was announced the winner by Captain Carey of the Palmyra Police Department.
We are incredibly proud of Heidi for her hard work and representing our school so well. Congratulations on this amazing honor! 🎉

Ms. Reeder and her sixth grade science students blasted off for an out-of-this-world learning experience!
Panthers began their mission in the hallway, where they received official badges before entering the classroom. From there, our sixth grade science astronauts rotated through space stations, planning meals for astronauts at the International Space Station, learning about famous astronauts like Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Sally Ride, Mae Jemison, and Chris Hadfield, and completing simple tasks while wearing “space gloves.”
They also created their own planets, explored constellations, learned about gravity, and discovered fun space facts at the information desk. With galaxy lights, glow sticks, and space music, the classroom was transformed into a full space atmosphere for an unforgettable day of hands-on learning!
Way to go, sixth grade astronauts! 🌎🪐⭐
