PHS- Congratulations to our February Students of the Month! Great job !! 📚🏫

American Legion Oratorical State Champion! 🏆🇺🇸
We are beyond proud to announce that Palmyra High School junior Tess Lehman has won the State Championship in The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program and gifted a $5,000 scholarship for placing 1st.
Even more impressive — Tess is only the 3rd individual winner from Palmyra in the 92-year history of this constitutional speech contest!
Tess’s journey began back in November when she won the high school-level contest. From there, she advanced through — and won — the county, district, and zone competitions, earning her spot at the state finals for the second consecutive year. Her dedication, poise, and powerful voice truly set her apart. 🏆
Her prepared speech on The Power of Speech in a Democracy showcased her deep understanding of our constitutional principles. In addition, she then delivered an impromptu speech on a randomly assigned topic. Her impromptu speech was based on Article VI Clause III of the constitution — a true test of knowledge and composure under pressure.
With this state victory, Tess will now advance to the National Oratorical Contest held May 15–17 at Hillsdale College in Michigan, where she will compete against the top students from across the nation. ⭐🇺🇸
Tess was sponsored by Boots Dickson Post 174 of Palmyra. We are incredibly proud of Tess for representing Palmyra with excellence and wish her the very best as she prepares for the national stage! 🧡🖤
